Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media highlighting his activities and viewpoints as a legislator.
On February 16, 2026, Simpson marked the federal holiday with a brief message: “God bless America! Happy Presidents’ Day!”
Later that day, he commented on his position within the U.S. Capitol and reiterated some of his policy stances. On February 16, 2026, he wrote: “As the only Republican office in our hallway in DC, I take pride in sharing common-sense messages, such as keeping men out of women’s sports and honoring Charlie Kirk’s life and legacy. It’s an honor to bring Idaho values back to Washington.”
On February 17, 2026, Simpson shared details from a recent visit to a local business in his home state: “Enjoyed touring the Teton Toyota & Volkswagen in Idaho Falls to discuss some MAJOR tax relief wins in the Working Families Tax Cuts, including a $10,000 deduction on auto loan interest for cars made in America. Fun fact: this vehicle behind me was made right here in the USA!”
Simpson has served as Idaho’s 2nd district representative since 1999 after succeeding Mike Crapo. He previously spent over a decade serving in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson is an alumnus of Utah State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
