Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on his social media account at the start of 2026.
On January 1, Simpson extended well wishes to his constituents, posting “Happy New Year, ID-02! https://t.co/YNajdd9mT2”.
The following day, he highlighted new federal funding for rural health care initiatives. On January 2, Simpson stated, “ICYMI: the Trump Administration announced funding awards to states through the Rural Health Transformation Program. This historic initiative was made possible by the Working Families Tax Cut legislation. Idaho will receive more than $185 million. https://t.co/equEk9vocv”.
On January 3, Simpson commented on foreign policy and national security developments related to Venezuela. He wrote, “Narcoterrorist Nicolas Maduro is no friend to the United States. Our country is now safer thanks to President Trump’s decisive action in carrying out a successful military operation. The Maduro regime bears responsibility for flooding American communities with deadly drugs and https://t.co/k2d6pm9Lfy”.
Simpson has served in Congress since 1999 after replacing Mike Crapo and previously spent over a decade in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. He was born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently resides in Idaho Falls. Simpson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University, earned in 1972.
