Cost of college went up for all students at Boise State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 5 percent for 2018-19 at Boise State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Idaho residents paid $7,694 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $368 more than the $7,326 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 209 percent more than residents this year, or $23,776. Their price tag grew 5 percent from $22,642 in 2017-18.

About 54 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are Idaho residents. About 45 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 84 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,811 students received grants or scholarships totaling $19.1 million and 1,264 students took out student loans totaling more than $8 million.

Including all undergraduates (25,504), 9,489 students used grants or scholarships totaling $79.5 million, and 7,561 students took out $50.3 million in federal student loans.
