Two members of the Talkin’ Broncos Speech and Debate team will hold a public debate on April 2 in the Bishop Barnwell room of the Student Union Building. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The debaters, who recently won a national championship in 2026, will discuss whether the existence of data centers is justified. This topic addresses questions about technology’s place in society and its environmental impact.

Audience participation is encouraged after the debate, as attendees will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and engage with the speakers.

The discussion aims to explore how advancements like artificial intelligence affect communities and what considerations should be made when balancing technological progress with environmental concerns.

Organizers say this event may interest those following developments in AI, technology policy, or sustainability.
