Filip Soderqvist was named the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week, according to a March 11 announcement from the conference.
The recognition comes after Soderqvist went undefeated in both singles and doubles matches during the Boise State Spring Invitational. His performance helped Boise State secure a win over nationally-ranked No. 56 BYU to claim the tournament title.
Soderqvist achieved a decisive singles victory against Idaho State’s Luka Vujacic with scores of 6-2, 6-3 at the three spot. In doubles play, he teamed up with Stewart Aronson to defeat BYU’s Tygen Goldammer and TJ Wells 6-1 on court two.
This is Soderqvist’s second weekly award of his career and marks Boise State’s second such honor this season.
Looking ahead, No. 61 Boise State is set to host No. 38 Santa Clara, No. 72 Cal Poly, DePaul, and Montana State on March 13-14 at Appleton Tennis Center.
