Senator Jim Risch, representing Idaho, highlighted several topics of local and national interest in a series of posts on his social media account in early December 2025.
On December 1, 2025, Risch acknowledged the achievements of a local resident by stating, “Congratulations to Driggs-native, Colter Rammell, on making history and representing Idaho and the USA! You make the Gem State proud!”
The following day, he marked Giving Tuesday with a message encouraging community involvement: “From taking time to help a neighbor or donating a gift to Toys for Tots, Giving Tuesday is a day for Idahoans to join together and celebrate generosity.” This annual event is part of a global movement that encourages charitable giving and volunteerism.
Later on December 2, Senator Risch posted about Idaho’s role in nuclear energy innovation: “Today is World Nuclear Energy Day! From the first four lightbulbs lit by nuclear power to the largest test reactor in the world, Idaho will always be a leader in nuclear innovation.” Idaho has played an important historical role in nuclear energy development. The state was home to Experimental Breeder Reactor I (EBR-I), which was the first power plant to produce usable electricity through nuclear fission when it lit four lightbulbs in 1951. Idaho continues its legacy as a center for nuclear research and testing.
Senator Jim Risch has served as U.S. Senator from Idaho since 2009.
