U.S. Senator Jim Risch of Idaho posted a series of messages on his social media accounts between April 1 and April 2, 2026, highlighting Idaho’s role in nuclear innovation, congratulating NASA on a historic lunar mission, and extending Passover greetings.
On April 1, Risch emphasized Idaho’s leadership in the nuclear sector, stating, “Idaho already leads in nuclear innovation, it’s common sense for our state to be home to this new effort that will propel American nuclear forward.” He has long been associated with energy policy through his work on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. According to his official website, Risch serves on several Senate committees including Foreign Relations, Energy and Natural Resources, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Intelligence, and Ethics.
Later that day, Risch recognized the achievement of the U.S. space program after a significant milestone. On April 1 he wrote: “America, we have liftoff! Congratulations to @nasa and the @nasaartemis team on their successful launch and our nation’s first manned trip to the Moon in 50 years!”
On April 2, Risch shared a personal message with his wife Vicki: “Vicki and I wish our Jewish friends a happy and meaningful Passover!” The senator and his wife have been married for more than five decades and raised three sons together as noted by his official biography.
Risch is known for pragmatic governance and conservative principles throughout his career. He has served multiple terms in the Idaho State Senate—including as majority leader and president pro tempore—and held statewide offices as lieutenant governor and governor before joining the U.S. Senate (source).
