Senator Jim Risch Shares Updates on Presidents’ Day, Nuclear Energy, and Veterans’ Rights
Senator Jim Risch, who represents Idaho in the U.S. Senate, posted a series of updates on social media from February 16 to February 18, 2026. His posts addressed Presidents’ Day, Idaho’s role in nuclear energy development, and recent changes affecting veterans’ rights.
On February 16, Senator Risch acknowledged the national holiday by posting: “Happy Presidents’ Day, God bless America! https://t.co/9BoyyYZIx1”
The following day, he highlighted Idaho’s leadership in nuclear energy research: “The Gem State is driving the future of nuclear energy! @INL has been home to over 50 reactors and is leading the way in research and development of this vital energy resource. https://t.co/OXY0UOiqKa” (February 17). The Idaho National Laboratory (INL), located in Idaho Falls, has played a significant role in advancing nuclear technology since its founding and continues to be a major center for innovation in the field.
On February 18, Senator Risch commented on policy changes affecting veterans: “Our veterans didn’t fight for our freedoms just to have theirs stripped away. Last year, I joined @SenJohnKennedy in leading a bill to reverse the VA policy denying veterans their Second Amendment rights. I am glad to see @SecVetAffairs take action to correct this injustice.” In recent years, there has been ongoing debate regarding policies that impact veterans’ access to firearms through Department of Veterans Affairs regulations.
Senator Risch’s recent statements reflect both his support for commemorative events like Presidents’ Day and his focus on issues important to Idahoans such as energy innovation and veterans’ rights.
