U.S. Senator Jim Risch of Idaho used his social media platform to highlight recent legislative efforts on voting requirements, nuclear energy policy, and veterans’ burial benefits.

On March 19, 2026, Risch stated, “The SAVE America Act will only require proof of citizenship when registering to vote. To cast their ballot, Americans will simply need a photo ID, which we already do for many daily tasks.”

Later that day, he addressed the importance of nuclear energy and discussed a new legislative proposal: “Nuclear energy is vital to meeting our nation’s growing energy needs, but first-of-kind innovations carry financial risk. Today, I spoke with Idaho’s own @john_c_wagner about my ARC Act, which will protect ratepayers and ensure continued U.S. leadership in nuclear energy.”

On March 20, 2026, Risch turned attention to veterans’ issues: “Right now, veterans who die from causes related to their service receive lower burial benefits than their counterparts. This week, I introduced the Veteran Burial Benefit Correction Act to correct this injustice and ensure the families of veterans can lay their loved ones to rest”.

Risch serves on several Senate committees including Foreign Relations, Energy and Natural Resources, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Intelligence, and Ethics. Throughout his career he has demonstrated a commitment to pragmatic governance and conservative principles (official website). His public service includes multiple terms in the Idaho State Senate—where he served as majority leader and president pro tempore—as well as terms as lieutenant governor and governor of Idaho (official website). He holds degrees in forestry and law from the University of Idaho (official website).
