A 15-year-old male was arrested on March 28 after leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit through Kuna, according to local authorities. The incident began around 4:02 a.m. when a Kuna Police deputy responded to reports of an erratic driver heading southbound on S. Meridian Rd. near E. Victory Rd.
The case highlights concerns about juvenile safety and the dangers posed by reckless driving incidents involving minors.
According to police, the suspect’s vehicle failed to stop when signaled and led deputies through several neighborhoods, striking an electrical box, a parked car, and nearly hitting a residence in the Crimson Point subdivision before continuing eastbound onto E. Hubbard Rd. The chase continued with the vehicle eventually being stopped by officers using a PIT maneuver near S. Ten Mile Rd. and W. Overland Rd., but not before it crashed into shrubs and later into a tree as the driver attempted another escape.
After coming to rest, deputies reported that the juvenile driver fled on foot but was apprehended following a brief chase. Three other juveniles aged between 13 and 15 were also in the car; they were released to their parents at the scene while the driver was taken for medical evaluation of minor injuries before being booked into Ada County Juvenile Detention on charges including felony fleeing and eluding, possession of stolen property, and resisting and obstructing.
Kuna Police Chief Mike Fratusco said, “We are grateful no one was seriously injured. The reckless decisions made by the juveniles in this case created a situation that could have easily ended in tragedy,” adding that such behavior is dangerous and puts both community members and innocent people at risk.
Authorities say additional charges may be filed as investigations continue.
