Boise State’s Loula-Rae McNamara was named Mountain West Pitcher and Freshman of the Week, according to a March 23 announcement by the conference.
The recognition highlights McNamara’s performance over four appearances, where she did not allow a hit or run during three innings in both games of a doubleheader at Sacramento State on March 17. The freshman from Ladera Ranch, California became the first Boise State player in six years to save both games of a doubleheader.
McNamara also earned victories in relief against Fresno State, a Mountain West opponent, on March 20 and 21. In the series opener, she retired all five batters faced, including three strikeouts. She finished her week with 4 and two-thirds innings pitched in relief, allowing two runs—one earned.
For the week, McNamara posted a record of two wins and no losses with two saves. She maintained an earned run average (ERA) of 0.57 and a walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) of 0.57 over twelve and one-third innings while striking out eight batters.
The accolades mark significant milestones for both McNamara’s debut season and Boise State softball.
