Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State with a unanimous vote of 99-0. The confirmation follows a unanimous 22-0 vote by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to advance his nomination.

She added, “Having worked with Senator Rubio for many years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I believe he has the skills and knowledge to lead the State Department at this pivotal moment.”

Shaheen emphasized that there are numerous challenges facing America and expressed her willingness to collaborate with Secretary Rubio on various bipartisan issues. These include supporting Ukraine, protecting American interests globally, and strengthening NATO alliances.

Ranking Member Shaheen and Chair Risch also issued a statement following the Committee’s unanimous vote in favor of advancing Rubio’s nomination.
