Teal Matsueda tied for fifth place as the Boise State women’s golf team finished eighth at the Juli Inkster Invitational in San Francisco, according to a March 10 announcement. The Broncos recorded a total score of 902 (+38) over the two-day tournament.
The event highlighted individual achievements, with Matsueda opening with rounds of 71 (-1) and 72 (even par), followed by a final round of 75 (+3). This performance marked her best career finish and her second top-10 result this season. Leia Chung also contributed by tying for 17th place, achieving her 17th career top-25 finish. Chung posted a total score of 224 (+8), including a one-under-par round in the second round.
Head coach Kailin Downs said, “The final round conditions put up a good challenge and unfortunately we didn’t end the way we wanted to. I feel like we come away from this event with a lot of positives and some very specific things we need to address. This was a great event for Teal, a top-five finish to boost her confidence. We are looking forward to another opportunity to compete next week in Austin.”
Additional highlights included Matsueda’s fourth consecutive stroke play tournament with at least one round under par and ranking third in the field on par-4 holes. Chung led the team with nine rounds under par this season and tied for the tournament lead on par-3 holes.
Boise State will continue its season at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, scheduled for March 16-17 at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
