Congressman Mike Simpson, representing Idaho’s 2nd district since 1999, shared several updates through his social media posts. His communications covered topics ranging from energy policy to historical commemorations and environmental conservation.
On May 7, 2025, Congressman Simpson reflected on a session with Secretary Wright, who testified before the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee. He stated: “Enjoyed hearing from @SecretaryWright as he testified before the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee. Sec. Wright thoroughly answered my questions regarding @INL and the future of nuclear energy under the Trump administration.”
The following day, May 8, 2025, Simpson acknowledged an important historical milestone by marking Victory in Europe Day’s anniversary. He posted: “Today marks 80 years since Victory in Europe Day. We will forever honor the Greatest Generation and never forget the sacrifices of the heroes who defeated fascism and defended freedom.”
Later that same day, Congressman Simpson expressed his commitment to preserving public lands via a new leadership role within Congress. In his post he mentioned: “Idahoans live in Idaho because we love our public lands. One of my top priorities is preserving access to our public lands and defending our way of life.” He also shared his excitement about being named Vice Chair of the Public Lands Caucus.
Simpson was born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and has been active in political service since serving in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998 before moving to Congress.
