Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing federal hearings with Tribal representatives, fraud concerns in Minnesota, and support for a balanced budget amendment.
On March 18, 2026, Simpson highlighted ongoing discussions between federal officials and Tribal leaders: “Two full days of hearings with Tribes from across the nation share their stories, hear their priorities, and discuss how the federal government can continue to uphold our trust and treaty obligations to our Tribal brothers and sisters. Thank you to all the members who traveled https://t.co/3ZunorAb6T”.
Later that day, Simpson addressed allegations of fraud in Minnesota under state leadership: “Billions of dollars in fraud were uncovered under the noses of failed leaders like Tim Walz and Keith Ellison in Minnesota. Those who enter this country with the intent of defrauding the American people should not be allowed to stay. Foreign fraudsters who play the system and https://t.co/dRtuq5HRrd”.
In another post on March 18, Simpson expressed his continued support for fiscal responsibility measures: “Shocking vote count here… I have supported proposing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution since I first came to Congress, and was proud to vote YES on @RepAndyBiggsAZ’s effort on the House floor today. https://t.co/S5plS8s5b0”.
Simpson has served as Idaho’s 2nd district representative since 1999 after succeeding Mike Crapo. He previously held office in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950, Simpson is currently 72 years old and resides in Idaho Falls. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University in 1972.
