Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing law enforcement efforts, sports achievements, and legislative developments.
On February 24, 2026, Simpson commended local law enforcement agencies for their actions in a recent arrest. He wrote: “Great work @PoliceMeridian and to all agencies involved for finding and arresting this individual. I’m grateful that nobody was injured and that our law enforcement is safe. Idaho overwhelmingly supports DHS and the brave work they do.”
Later, on February 25, 2026, he expressed enthusiasm for the U.S. hockey team’s performance with the message: “Incredible!! @usahockey “
That same day, Simpson commented on tax legislation by stating: “LARGEST TAX CUT IN AMERICAN HISTORY. (Every Democrat voted against this)”
Simpson has served in Congress since 1999 after succeeding Mike Crapo and previously held office in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950, he resides in Idaho Falls and graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in 1972.
