Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of updates on legislative progress related to national security, agriculture, and the Farm Bill.
On April 28, 2026, Simpson announced his support for an appropriations bill: “Proudly voted to advance @MarioDB’s FY27 National Security & Department of State @HouseAppropsGOP bill. This legislation champions America First foreign policy, bolsters national security and border protections, and eliminates waste, fraud, and abuse. Another appropriations https://t.co/UtLZrOnxxm”.
The following day, April 29, he highlighted funding secured for agricultural research in Idaho: “Thrilled to see another FY27 @HouseAppropsGOP bill advance! The FY27 Agriculture bill includes the funding I fought for @uidaho’s Aberdeen Research and Extension Center. As Idaho’s only appropriatior, I will ALWAYS fight for the potato industry. “.
On April 30, Simpson addressed concerns from Idaho’s agricultural community regarding the reauthorization of the Farm Bill: “I regularly hear from farmers, ranchers, and producers in Idaho, and their main concern over the years has been when Congress will reauthorize the Farm Bill. Thanks to a Republican White House, Senate, and House, we have officially delivered on our promise to provide certainty https://t.co/7vEbgHl9aU”.
Simpson has served as Idaho’s representative in Congress since 1999 after replacing Mike Crapo. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls at age 72, Simpson graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
