Mike Simpson highlights legislative initiatives on healthcare, energy, and infrastructure

Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted legislative efforts and state achievements through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On December 1, 2025, Simpson announced his support for new healthcare legislation: “Pleased to see the House pass the bipartisan Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act – legislation I was proud to cosponsor. @StLukesHealth has a successful ‘Hospital at Home’ program, and this bill ensures hospitals like St. Luke’s can continue serving families and”.

The following day, December 2, Simpson recognized World Nuclear Energy Day by emphasizing Idaho’s leadership in nuclear innovation: “Today is World Nuclear Energy Day! Idaho and @INL have led the way in powering the future. As a longtime supporter of INL, I’m thrilled by the nuclear renaissance our country is experiencing. It was especially fitting to meet with INL Director Dr. Wagner today – it’s always a”.

On December 3, Simpson addressed infrastructure concerns affecting Western communities: “We must address urban canal repairs to protect Idahoans and Westerners’ way of life. I proudly introduced the Urban Canal Modernization Act – a bill that maintains safety, expands accessibility, and provides additional tools to ensure these crucial repairs get completed.”

Simpson has represented Idaho’s 2nd district since 1999 after succeeding Mike Crapo in Congress (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/S001562). Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University earned in 1972.
