On March 11, 2026, Simpson congratulated the University of Idaho women’s basketball team on their recent success: “Ladies and gentlemen, the Big Sky Champions! Congratulations, @VandalsWBB!”
The following day, March 12, he continued to celebrate the university’s basketball teams with another post: “What a time for Vandals basketball! @VandalHoops “
Shifting focus to federal matters on March 13, Simpson criticized congressional gridlock regarding government funding: “Second Stupid Schumer Shutdown. This is avoidable, reckless, and deeply discouraging for hardworking Americans impacted by the Democrats’ political games.”
Mike Simpson has served in Congress since 1999 after replacing former member Mike Crapo. He previously held office in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and now residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
