Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to express support for voter ID requirements and highlight local achievements in athletics.
On February 10, 2026, Simpson posted, “I’m a proud cosponsor of @RepChipRoy’s SAVE America Act. Requiring proof of ID and citizenship for voting in federal elections is supported by the vast majority of Americans. Only congressional Democrats seem to oppose this.”
Later that day, he shared appreciation for Special Olympics Idaho athletes, writing on February 10, 2026: “I always enjoy meeting with members of the Special Olympics Idaho, and I truly appreciate the work they do. It was an absolute honor to host @SOID along with some of Idaho’s top champions, like Nathan and Ozzy. 32 athletes from Idaho will represent our great state at the 2026”
Simpson continued to address voter identification issues in another post on February 10, 2026: “71% of Democrat voters support voter ID. Why are congressional Democrats so against common sense?”
Simpson has represented Idaho’s 2nd district since 1999 after succeeding Mike Crapo and previously served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University.
