WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, recently stood alongside U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), among others, in a collective effort aimed at urging the Biden Administration to reignite investigations into the root cause of anomalous health incidents (AHIs), commonly referred to as “Havana Syndrome.”

The group of senators, including Risch, Shaheen, and Collins, penned a letter to President Biden, calling for a renewed focus on unraveling the mysteries surrounding these incidents. The letter also highlighted the need for prompt compensation for those affected and requested an interagency briefing from administration officials to gain insights into the current endeavors to pinpoint the perpetrators behind these attacks.

In a segment aired on CBS 60 Minutes, Der Spiegel, and the Insider, allegations surfaced linking the Russian intelligence unit, GRU, to directed energy attacks targeting American government officials and their families. The senators expressed their unease over these revelations, stating, “We write to express concern regarding the allegations raised… which point to evidence that the Russian intelligence unit, GRU, is responsible for directed energy attacks against American government officials and their families.”

Additionally, the senators emphasized their frustration at the unresolved nature of these incidents despite previous efforts to extend support to affected individuals and push for legislative measures to facilitate an organized response in uncovering the underlying causes. They urged the administration to intensify its pursuit of identifying the source behind these directed energy attacks, stating, “Despite our efforts… we are frustrated that this phenomenon is left unresolved and urge you to renew efforts to identify the cause behind directed energy attacks.”
