WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today issued a statement following Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s address to a joint session of the United States Congress.

“It was an honor to have Prime Minister Kishida address a joint session of Congress today. Japan is a strong and steadfast ally of the United States, and our cooperation in defense and economic security is paramount,” Senator Risch remarked. He also highlighted the significance of the trilateral partnership involving the United States, Japan, and the Philippines in enhancing the Indo-Pacific region’s security and deterring Chinese aggression. Senator Risch expressed anticipation for further developments in this partnership in the upcoming months.
