U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, expressed concern over the Biden Administration’s decision to delay certain arms sales to Israel. Risch stated, “President Biden’s clear threat to Israel, made on network television, made it obvious that he and his administration are more concerned with pacifying anti-Israel, and often anti-Semitic, sentiment among potential voters than with supporting our close partner during a critical time of need.”
The senator further criticized the president for blocking a contract that had already been approved by Congress and paid for by Israel. He argued that this sale would have reduced collateral damage in Rafah and other areas.
“American allies and partners are watching our government’s behavior closely,” warned Risch. He emphasized that Israel is America’s closest partner in the Middle East and noted that Iran and Hezbollah are likely pleased with President Biden’s actions.
Risch concluded his statement by saying, “President Biden has given Hamas the greatest victory it could hope for; he has driven a wedge between the United States and Israel.”
