U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen has criticized the Trump administration’s decision to halt military aid to Ukraine. In a statement, she expressed concern over the implications of this action on Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against aggression.

“This act of retribution against our ally, who is on the frontlines defending freedom and democracy, is not only shameful—it is dangerous,” said Shaheen. She emphasized that by freezing military aid, President Trump has created an opportunity for increased aggression from Russia. “The repercussions will undoubtedly be devastating,” she added.

Shaheen also noted that there appears to be no benefit gained from this decision, stating, “To add insult to injury, it is abundantly clear that President Trump has not secured anything in return for so generously helping Putin.” She urged the administration to reconsider its stance and align with democratic values.

Shaheen serves as the Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has been vocal about her support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict.
