U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen expressed her concerns regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Shaheen, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, emphasized the importance of de-escalating tensions and delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians. She also highlighted the need to release remaining hostages and prevent a wider regional conflict.

In light of the delicate negotiations currently underway to restore the ceasefire, Shaheen explained her decision to vote against the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval on arms sales to Israel. She stated, “As Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I am deeply concerned by the breakdown of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Immediately de-escalating the conflict is crucial for delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians, releasing the remaining hostages, and preventing a regional war. With the delicate negotiations to restore the ceasefire happening right now, I voted against the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval on arms sales to Israel to encourage progress in those conversations.”

Shaheen’s actions and statements seek to foster progress in the ongoing diplomatic discussions aimed at resolving the situation peacefully.
