City of Boise Submits a Modern Zoning Code to Create Homes for Boiseans
In partnership with the community, the City of Boise has been working on a modern zoning code to ensure that future design and development protects the character of Boise’s unique neighborhoods, encourages a wide array of housing choices at Boise budgets, and paves the way for more walkable, dynamic spaces for everyone. After nearly three years of work by a Citywide Advisory Committee and informed by broad community feedback, the city submitted the new code to the Planning & Zoning Commission for review and a public hearing.
“Creating a modern zoning code that is thoughtful and intentional to Boise, will help achieve our most pressing community concerns: housing affordability, climate resilience, and expanded transportation choices,” said Tim Keane, Planning and Development Service Director. “We are excited about what this new code will do to create a city for everyone, for generations to come.”
The formal application has been submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a recommendation and then heads to Boise City Council for final approval. The application requires a public hearing and the community is invited to participate. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a series of public meetings in late April.
