U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), a ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, recently met with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović at the U.S. Capitol.
During their meeting, Risch expressed his pleasure in welcoming President Milatović to the U.S. Capitol. He highlighted Montenegro's crucial role as a NATO member in strengthening collective defense against significant threats posed by Russia and China to transatlantic security.
Risch also emphasized Montenegro's pivotal role in shaping the future of the Western Balkans. He conveyed his satisfaction about discussing with President Milatović ways in which both nations can collaborate to promote mutual interests in the region.
Risch expressed hope that Montenegro would continue its efforts to integrate further with the transatlantic community and contribute more significantly to joint regional initiatives. This includes striving to fulfill its commitment of spending 2% of its GDP on defense in the upcoming months.
