U.S. Senators Jim Risch and Jeanne Shaheen will lead a bipartisan congressional delegation to the 16th annual Halifax International Security Forum. The event will gather U.S. Senators Tim Kaine, Jerry Moran, Mike Rounds, Amy Klobuchar, other Congress members, and national security leaders worldwide to discuss strategic cooperation on global security goals.
Senator Risch expressed his enthusiasm for leading the delegation alongside Senator Shaheen, stating: “I’m pleased to lead the congressional delegation to the Halifax Security Conference alongside my good friend Senator Shaheen. This conference has been a shared priority of ours for years because it’s an excellent place to come together and discuss solutions to some of the most pressing security challenges faced by the United States and our allies.”
Senator Shaheen highlighted the importance of bipartisan efforts in addressing global security issues: “I’m proud to once again lead the United States’ bipartisan congressional delegation to Halifax with my friend and colleague, Senator Risch. Our trip demonstrates our continued bipartisan commitment to finding common ground and forging compromise on even the most challenging global security issues.”
The forum will focus on discussions regarding U.S. leadership and coordination with allies in addressing threats against freedom and democracy, as well as examining economic, security, and political impacts from conflicts initiated by authoritarian regimes.
Risch and Shaheen have consistently led a bipartisan delegation at this forum over the past six years.
Further details about panels, plenaries, and streaming options for the 2024 Halifax International Security Forum will be released soon.
