Boise State track and field athlete Raekwon Weatherspoon tied the school record in the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.89 meters (25 feet, 10.75 inches) as the Broncos wrapped up competition on April 11 at both the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational and the NNU Open.
Weatherspoon’s performance matched a standard set by Eugene Green in 1990 and equaled by Savvas Diakonikolas in 2008. His leap would be tied for seventh nationally this season, pending results from other meets across the country.
In addition to his long jump result, Weatherspoon joined Allan McKeraghan, Josh Green, and Harvey Scott to achieve the fifth-fastest time in program history for the men’s 4×100-meter relay at 40.51 seconds. Priscilla Adu-Gyamfi also made her mark in Texas by running the third-fastest women’s 400-meter time ever recorded at Boise State (54.03 seconds).
At the NNU Open, five Broncos won their respective events: Emily Jobes took first place in the women’s 1,500 meters; Noah Lara won the men’s 110-meter hurdles; Noelani Krauss captured victory in the women’s 800 meters; Shawn Jones finished first in the men’s 800 meters; and Alix Mund secured a win in the women’s triple jump.
Overall, Boise State athletes claimed five event titles at NNU and one title at Texas A&M while recording a total of twenty-two collegiate-best marks across both meets.
Looking ahead, Boise State will compete next at the Bryan Clay Invitational scheduled for April 16-18 in Azusa, California.
