Boise State women’s tennis player Zdena Safarova was named Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced on March 18.

This recognition highlights Safarova’s continued success in collegiate tennis and her key role in recent team victories. The award is her fifth career Mountain West weekly honor, following four such awards during the 2025 season.

Safarova, who is from Prague, Czech Republic, went undefeated at No. 1 singles and doubles over the weekend. Her performance helped Boise State secure wins against Colorado State and Wyoming. She began with a straight-set victory over Luana Avelar of Colorado State, winning 7-5, 6-0.

In the match against Wyoming, Safarova teamed up with Tereza Polakova to win a close doubles contest, clinching the point with a 7-6 (6) result. She then defeated Silver Bijlsma in singles play with scores of 7-6 (2), 6-1. Both matches were important for Boise State’s narrow 4-3 win over Wyoming.

Safarova has now won five consecutive singles matches at No. 1 for Boise State. She will return to action this weekend when the Broncos face Grand Canyon on March 20 at Appleton Tennis Center and San Diego State on March 22.
