Boise State women’s tennis player Zdena Safarova was named Mountain West Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, according to a March 25 announcement from the conference.
The recognition highlights Safarova’s continued strong performance this season. She now holds six career Mountain West weekly honors, which is the most among active players in the conference and her second award of the 2026 season.
Safarova contributed to Boise State’s undefeated weekend by securing two wins at No. 1 singles and an additional victory at No. 1 doubles. In singles play, she defeated Grand Canyon’s Bella Crossman with scores of 6-0, 6-4 and San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan with scores of 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles competition against Grand Canyon, Safarova partnered with Tereza Polakova. The pair came back from a deficit to win a tiebreaker 7-4 and clinch the doubles point for their team. These results marked her sixth and seventh consecutive victories at No. 1 singles and four wins in her last five matches at No. 1 doubles.
Boise State is currently on an eleven-match winning streak. The team will return to action at Appleton Tennis Center this weekend, hosting Nevada on March 27 at 11 a.m., followed by UNLV on March 29 at the same time.
