U.S. Senators Jim Risch, Ben Cardin, Pete Ricketts, and Jeanne Shaheen have introduced a resolution recognizing the 75th anniversary of NATO. Senator Risch emphasized the importance of NATO's role in maintaining security and stability, stating, "NATO is the most successful political-military alliance in the history of the world." He also highlighted the need for the alliance to adapt to new security challenges posed by countries like China and Russia.

Chairman Cardin echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the unity and importance of NATO in the face of current threats, particularly from Vladimir Putin. He stated, "We know that NATO has been steadfast in protecting the transatlantic community for 75 years."

Senator Ricketts emphasized the significance of NATO in combating Russian aggression and the challenges posed by the Chinese Communist Party, saying, "NATO is the cornerstone of transatlantic security and essential for global stability."

Senator Shaheen, as co-chair of the U.S. Senate NATO Observer Group, highlighted NATO's leadership in defending democracy and the importance of unity against threats to the global world order. She stated, "As we mark this important anniversary, we must continue to remain united against bad actors who seek to upend the global world order."

The resolution celebrates NATO's founding anniversary and welcomes members and observers to the 75th Annual Summit in Washington, D.C. It also emphasizes the importance of NATO's Article 5, calls on member states to meet their defense spending obligations, and encourages closer ties with the Indo-Pacific to address challenges posed by Russia and China.
