Boise Art Museum has been honored with the Mosaic 2024 Community Champion Award. This recognition was given to Melanie Fales, the museum's Executive Director, for her efforts in promoting community collaborations and enhancing accessibility for individuals who are blind.

Melanie Fales expressed her gratitude by stating, “I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the Boise Art Museum. It has been a pleasure to partner with people in our community who are blind and to make the Museum welcoming and accessible based on their recommendations.” She acknowledged that there is still more work to be done.

Over the past four years, Boise Art Museum has concentrated on inclusive design and access for people who are blind. This has involved collaboration to develop braille instructions, welcome cards, maps, touchable samples, and tactile representations of artworks.

The Mosaic 2024 event marked the first international gathering of professionals dedicated to advancing inclusive design and accessibility across various fields. The summit occurred in Boise from October 8 to 11, 2024.
