U.S. Senator Jim Risch of Idaho, who serves as the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued a statement following his meeting with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. Rubio has been nominated to be Secretary of State for the incoming Trump Administration.
Risch expressed confidence in Rubio's capabilities, stating, "Senator Rubio is the right person to lead the State Department. I’ve served alongside Marco on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee since he came to the Senate and know firsthand how qualified he is for the role." He emphasized that Americans have voted for strong leadership and that Rubio will provide decisive direction as a top diplomat.
Risch also mentioned his intention to collaborate with fellow senators to ensure Rubio's swift confirmation, saying, "I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure he is in place on day one of the next administration."
