U.S. Senators Jim Risch, Pete Ricketts, Ben Cardin, and Jeanne Shaheen have expressed their concerns over Russian interference in Romania's presidential elections. The senators released a statement addressing the situation, emphasizing their support for Romania as a NATO ally.

"Vladimir Putin’s assault on Romania’s elections is yet another example of the hybrid war he is waging on our European allies and partners," they stated. The senators criticized Putin's alleged use of "Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-controlled TikTok to undermine Romania’s democratic process."

The Romanian government has reportedly uncovered this interference and has declassified intelligence related to its investigation. The senators acknowledged these efforts, stating, "The Romanian government has uncovered this assault on their democracy, and we appreciate its decision to declassify intelligence related to its investigation and keep the United States and the international community informed."

The statement concluded with an affirmation of U.S. support for Romania: "The United States stands in support of Romania as it urgently moves to hold certifiably free and fair presidential elections."
