MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Access to affordable, quality healthcare is critical for everyone. We all want to be, and stay, healthy; we all want to be able to take care of those we love; and we all want to be able to enjoy everything Boise has to offer.
Are you aware that now is an especially crucial time for our friends, family and neighbors that rely on Medicaid for affordable healthcare? During the COVID-19 pandemic, people covered by Medicaid could not be disenrolled from coverage regardless of whether they still qualified for Medicaid or not. Earlier this year, protected Medicaid ended, meaning everyone on protected Medicaid will need to be re-evaluated to either confirm their Medicaid eligibility or transition them off the Medicaid program. Millions of people are expected to lose coverage during the unwinding of the continuous enrollment provision.
Here is what you need to know about the process in Idaho. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) has been working tirelessly to redetermine Medicaid eligibility for thousands of Idahoans. Many re-evaluations have been completed automatically, requiring no action on the part of the recipient. However, sometimes IDHW needs information to complete the re-evaluation. When this is the case, they will reach out to recipients by email, text, and letters. It is necessary to act within 60 days of being contacted to prevent a loss of Medicaid.
If you have been disenrolled from Medicaid coverage and believe you are still eligible or have questions about your eligibility or disenrollment, please contact the Department of Health and Welfare by calling 877-456-1233, logging in to your idalink account, or visiting healthandwelfare.idaho.gov for more information or to reapply.
And to our community partners – please help to spread the word about Medicaid unwinding so that all Medicaid-eligible residents maintain the coverage they need.
Be well, Boise.
