BOISE, Idaho – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement ahead of the two-year anniversary of Russia’s brutal, unprovoked invasion of Ukraine:

In his statement, Senator Risch expressed concerns about the global stability following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, stating, "The full-scale attack on Ukraine two years ago is a clear indication that the world is becoming less stable." He emphasized the importance of addressing gaps in military supply chains and burden sharing among allies to effectively deter such threats.

Acknowledging the strength of the United States, Senator Risch highlighted the need for the country and its allies to address the existing gaps, stating, "The United States remains a strong country, capable of handling any challenge that confronts us, but we and our allies must fix these gaps." He also reaffirmed the commitment made to Ukraine in 1994 and stressed the urgency of developing a plan to end the war in Ukraine and prevent a victory for Russia.

Senator Risch called on the Biden Administration to clearly communicate its goals on Ukraine and present a strategy to the American people, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability. He concluded by affirming his dedication to ensuring U.S. assistance aligns with national security interests, stating, "I will continue working to ensure U.S. assistance efficiently and effectively supports U.S. national security interests."
