U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) has applauded the Committee's passage of legislation aimed at countering Iran. In a statement, Senator Risch highlighted the importance of the End Iranian Terrorism (End IT) Act and Stop Harboring Iranian Petroleum (SHIP) Act, stating, "It’s past time to act, and Congress has a clear role to play in countering the Iranian regime."

Senator Risch expressed his satisfaction with the Committee's support for the End IT Act and SHIP Act, emphasizing the need to target Chinese purchases of Iranian oil. He stated, "These bills encourage the Biden Administration to issue new sanctions, enforce Iran oil sanctions already on the books, and to start taking concrete action to starve the regime of resources."

Regarding the MAHSA Act, Senator Risch commented on the importance of imposing sanctions on Iran's leadership for human rights abuses and terrorism. He said, "This legislation rightfully imposes sanctions on Iran’s supreme leader, president, and their respective offices for the human rights abuses and terrorism they have supported."

Senator Risch expressed gratitude for the advancement of the MAHSA Act, stating, "I hope the Senate will act quickly to pass this legislation in the coming weeks."

The Committee's passage of these acts signifies a significant step in addressing the escalating tensions in the Middle East and countering Iran's destabilizing activities.
